Cincinnati Bengals: Week 6 Power Rankings Roundup

Just when it looked like the Cincinnati Bengals were righting the ship in week five, they lose in horrible fashion against the Dallas Cowboys. Where will they fall to on the Power Rankings this week?

The Cincinnati Bengals lost in their week five game at Dallas. They looked like a team that couldn’t stop the run or get pressure on a young quarterback. This loss is a concerning one but was it enough to make the critics drop them from the top half of their boards?

Is Marvin Lewis in trouble if they don’t get it going? It won’t be easy to get it started at New England this week either.

What on earth is wrong with the Cincinnati Bengals? For a team that was considered one of top to beat in the AFC, embarrassing doesn’t even begin to describe their performance against the Dallas Cowboys as this team should feel ashamed for what was displayed on the football field.

One explanation for this heretofore disappointment? The Bengals 30% conversion rate on third down is league’s third worst.

Are they bad? I’m stubborn with teams who have had sustained success, so I don’t want to believe that this is the year it falls apart for the Bengals. But they were absolutely dominated in Dallas. The Cowboys look like a good team, but are the Bengals good anymore? They’ve looked vulnerable in each of their losses. It doesn’t help that their next game is Tom Brady’s first home game after his suspension.

Marvin Lewis’ Bengals are off to their worst five-game start since 2010, the season before QB Andy Dalton joined the team and the last time the Bengals missed the playoffs. The good news is if it continues, Lewis can’t lose another playoff game (he’s 0-7 in his career).

The Cincinnati Bengals have not been spectacular and have really only beat teams they should. If they want a shot at a sixth straight playoffs and potential for a first playoff win, they will need to beat good teams. The problem, so far they have yet to beat one and week six is on the road at the New England Patriots. Can they pull off a miracle?
