Pernell McPhee was one of the NFL's top edge rushers in Week 2

The Chicago Bears got some return on investment this weekend, although the 48-23 loss to the Arizona Cardinals certainly overshadowed it.

While the rest of the team was getting steamrolled, Bears outside linebacker Pernell McPhee apparently came to play. Pro Football Focus gave him the highest grade of any edge rusher across the league in Week 2 (+7.2).

PFF credited McPhee with eight "quarterback disruptions" against the Cardinals. No Bears recorded a sack on quarterback Carson Palmer, but he only attempted 24 passes so McPhee was in Palmer's face on a third of his drop-backs.

The Bears signed McPhee to a five-year, $38.75 million contract in free agency this spring. The PFF numbers tell us it's money well spent, but Chicago has so many problems that McPhee actually had a very small impact on the outcome of the game.
