Marshall won't face charges over fight

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall will not to be charged over his alleged involvement in a violent altercation at a New York City nightclub in March, his attorney Harvey Steinberg told the NFL Network.

Reports of the incident initially alleged that Marshall had punched a woman in the face outside a nightclub, but ESPN reported earlier this week that investigators have been unable to find evidence proving the allegations.

Marshall's legal representative has maintained his client was not involved in the fight and that the 28-year-old receiver actually left the club after his wife was "struck in the face by a thrown bottle."

The three-time Pro Bowler said last week during a radio interview that he fully expected to be cleared of any wrongdoing.

"The situation in New York, it's unfortunate," Marshall said. "You never want to see anyone get hurt, but just the allegation of me balling my fist up and hitting a woman is just a lie.

"My wife was the victim in this situation."

The former Broncos star was reunited with former Denver teammate and current Bears quarterback Jay Cutler in March after Chicago agreed to send two third-round draft picks to Miami in exchange for the veteran wideout.
