Shockey rips Texans for anthem etiquette

Carolina Panthers tight end Jeremy Shockey ripped the Houston Texans on Sunday for their etiquette during the singing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" before Sunday's game at Reliant Stadium.

Speaking to reporters in the locker rooms after the 28-12 win, Shockey made it clear he felt the Texans players had disrespected their country with their actions.

"Myself, I was pretty upset they weren't showing respect to America during the national anthem," Shockey said, according to the Charlotte (NC) Observer.

"There were about 10 players who didn't put their arms across their chests. . . . This is America. They should at least give respect to America. . . . Maybe they just forgot to do it or something. I don't see how you can forget something like that."

The Texans were yet to respond to Shockey's comments.
