For the Carolina Panthers, Week 6 against the New England Patriots was far more than just another game. The Panthers were 4-0, but were being severely disrespected, largely being considered the worst undefeated team in the league.

On top of that, the Panthers had lost their last five games against the Seahawks dating back to 2010. Over the last four losses, including two last season, Carolina has lost by just an average of 6.75 points. Carolina was ready for a little revenge, and they got just that on Sunday.

As center Ryan Kalil points out, this was a far more mature looking team than what we’ve seen in the past, according to Lindsay H. Jones of USA TODAY Sports.

“We kept our composure, and I think that’s a sign of a mature team. From last year to this year, obviously the continuity is there, but you really have seen us grow up,” center Ryan Kalil told USA TODAY Sports. “That’s going to be big for us, ’cause we’re going to have some more close games like this later on down the stretch. So for us to have that win, going into these games knowing we can do that, I think that will give us a lot of momentum and give us a lot of confidence going forward.”

There’s no question that the composure and maturity was at an all-time high on Sunday, but this obviously helps to prove to the doubters that the Panthers truly are the real deal as well.
