There's a first time for everything, and the matchup between Carson Palmer and Cam Newton makes for a great story.

There are many differences between the Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals, the two teams who will meet in the 2016 NFC Championship Game. There are also plenty of differences between quarterbacks Cam Newton and Carson Palmer as well.

With that said, let’s not overlook the fact that these two have something very impressive in common though. Actually, what these two were able to accomplish during their time in college makes for a playoff game unlike any we’ve seen before in history.

It’s amazing to think that out of all the wild-card matchups, divisional round games, NFC/AFC championships and Super Bowls, that there’s never been a matchup between Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks.

When Newton and Palmer square off on Sunday, though, we’re all fortunate enough to be the first to ever witness this history.
