Cam Newton goes out of his way to give food to homeless man at bus stop

Cam Newton's on-field persona might rub some fans the wrong way, but it's impossible not to applaud what the Carolina Panthers star quarterback did off the field last week.

While in Baltimore preparing to play the Ravens in the Panthers' preseason opener, the reigning MVP stopped to give food to a homeless man at a bus stop who had a sign that read, "Homeless please help hungry -- food."

But according to two witnesses who spoke to ESPN, Newton didn't just give a bag of leftovers to the man, he gave him a full meal.

"People talk about him dabbing and all the stuff that in my mind ultimately should be irrelevant, because that doesn't get to the heart of who he is," one witness said of Newton.

Panthers backup quarterback Joe Webb said this is nothing new for Newton, especially when the cameras aren't present.

"It's like second nature for him," Webb said. "It's no surprise that he did it. A lot of people say, 'What are you doing when people aren't looking?' It speaks volumes that he's a great person."

Newton's celebratory antics might not sit well with everyone, but his willingness to give back while not seeking attention should be cheered by even the most ardent Newton hater.
