Bills RB Boobie Dixon: 'The Super Bowl is next week for us'

Published Dec. 28, 2015 9:21 a.m. ET

Entering the season, the Buffalo Bills -- like every other team -- had Super Bowl aspirations. Every player and head coach wants to be playing the final game of the season for that coveted ring, but only two will do so in the end.

For the Bills, though, they plan to play in the Super Bowl at home next week. That's because their bitter rivals, the New York Jets, are coming to town with a playoff berth on the line for Todd Bowles' squad. All the Bills can do at this point is hope to play "spoiler."

Rex Ryan said his former team will get the Bills' "best shot," and running back Boobie Dixon doesn't plan to take them lightly, either.

“We got something to play for now,” Dixon said via ESPN. “We been having something to play for -- that’s our respect and our pride. We always want that. But to send them home packing -- that would be great. We’re not going to the playoffs, so the Super Bowl is next week for us. I know we’re gonna have a lot of guys jacked. We already know what’s on the line.”

Ryan may not play up the magnitude of this game during the week, but there's little doubt the Bills are looking forward to ruining the Jets' playoff hopes. It would be most fitting for Ryan to knock the Jets out from playoff contention in the final game of the season after beating them once already.

Even if the Bills do win, though, the Jets aren't guaranteed to miss the postseason. They'll need the Pittsburgh Steelers to lose, as well.
