Browns CB Haden sore after hurting hip

Published Dec. 16, 2013 2:53 p.m. ET

Browns star cornerback Joe Haden said a painful hip pointer could keep him out of this week's game against the New York Jets.

Haden was injured in the second half Sunday when he was hit by Chicago left tackle Jermon Bushrod on a running play. Haden had to leave the game, and without Cleveland's top defensive back on the field, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler rallied Chicago to a 38-31 win.

Haden received treatment at the team's facility on Monday. He said it's too early to speculate about his status for Sunday's game.

Haden, who is having a Pro Bowl-caliber season, hopes to play in Cleveland's final two games. Although the Browns (4-10) have dropped five straight, Haden believes the team has made progress and is closer to contention.
