Bears place WR Kevin White on IR with another leg fracture

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:03 p.m. ET

After not playing at all during his rookie season because of a stress fracture in his left leg, Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White has been placed on injured reserve with a high ankle sprain and fracture in that same leg.

The two injuries, according to the team, are not related. That said, the result is the same: The No. 7 overall pick in the 2015 draft is back on the sideline just as he was starting to gain some momentum in his second year. He had six catches in each of his last two games and has 19 for 187 yards this season.

The 1-3 Bears’ offense, already without starting quarterback Jay Cutler (thumb), ranks 24th in the league in total yards and has had trouble finding the end zone. Chicago is tied for last in the NFL at 15.5 points scored per game, and losing White – one of the team’s young building blocks in another rebuilding season – won’t help.
