Updated Mar. 4, 2020 8:56 p.m. ET

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler is out with a sprained right thumb, and Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith of Dallas will sit because of a back injury.

Brian Hoyer is set for his 27th start with his fourth different team in place of Cutler on Sunday night. It will be the first start against the Cowboys for Hoyer, who helped lead Houston to the playoffs last season.

Smith was listed as questionable after missing the first two days of practice and being limited the third day. Second-year player Chaz Green will make his first start in place of Smith.

Chicago nose tackle Eddie Goldman is active after being listed as doubtful with an ankle injury. Linebacker Danny Trevathan had already been declared out with a thumb injury that required surgery. Linebacker Lamarr Houston has a season-ending ACL tear in his left knee.
