One Direction announces lack of NFL team loyalty along with US tour

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 5:13 p.m. ET

One Direction announced Thursday that the pop behemoth was returning Stateside for their On the Road Again stadium tour in 2015.

The British-Irish boy band consisting of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson sported jerseys of the respective city teams with the announcement of the band's tour dates as part of their Twitter marketing blitz.

And the bandmates seemed to have no qualms about changing team loyalty along with each city (well, all except Harry Styles, who simply held the NFL jerseys and refused to wear the Chicago Bears one outright). Here are some of the tweets that went out all over the country as part of today's announcement:

Though the jersey-swapping wasn't contained to just NFL teams:

Or football:

Clearly, American sports team devotion is of little concern to the London-based boy band (or at least, less of a concern than selling tickets). And this fair-weather fandom was something the band has tried before. Perhaps they figured the crossover boyzone between die-hard sports fans and their screaming tween demo was a slight one.

Though it does put into question whether or not 1D can be taken at their word. Next thing you know, they'll come out and say that's not what makes us beautiful at all (sob!).
