Falcons' Samuel hurts thigh

Published Aug. 24, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Atlanta Falcons cornerback Asante Samuel injured his thigh in the first quarter against Tennessee.

The four-time Pro Bowl player was hurt early in the preseason game Saturday night, and team officials say his return is questionable. Rookie Robert Alford replaced Samuel and was still in the game early in the second quarter for Atlanta.

Only Ed Reed, Charles Woodson and Champ Bailey have more interceptions among active players than Samuel who is going into his 11th NFL season.
