AP Top 25 Poll: Predicting the Top Five Teams

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

Another incredible week of college football is in the books, and teams are anxiously awaiting the results of this weeks AP Top 25 poll

Several top 10 teams gave us nail-biters on Saturday, but ultimately the majority of games finished with the top-ranked team still on-top.

Here are the predictions for the top five in this weeks AP Poll from six members of the NFL Mocks staff.

Erik Lambert: Alabama, Ohio State. Michigan. Clemson. Washington

David Holmes: Alabama. Ohio State. Michigan. Washington. Clemson

Eric Robinson: Alabama. Ohio State. Michigan. Clemson. Washington

Rodney Stokes: Alabama. Ohio State. Michigan. Washington. Clemson

George Stockburger: Alabama. Michigan, Ohio State, Washington, Clemson

Shawn Spencer: Alabama. Ohio State. Michigan. Clemson. Washington

The five teams are all the same, but the order is a bit different. Clemson and Ohio State won in overtime, but neither of those games should have reached that point. For that reason, I personally knocked them down a spot, but they both deserve to be in the conversation.

Even if Alabama were to lose a game, there is no reason for them to ever fall out of the top four. Unless an unthinkable collapse occurs, Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide will go into the college football playoffs for the third time in as many years. The reigning National Champions may just be too good for anyone to beat at this stage of the game.

Watch for the latest edition of the AP Top 25 poll to be announced later this afternoon.
