AP source: Manning has tear in plantar fascia
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) Peyton Manning has a partially torn plantar fascia in his right foot, according to a person familiar with the situation.
Speaking on condition of anonymity because the Broncos haven't addressed specifics of Manning's injury, the person confirmed reports from ESPN and KCNC-TV in Denver that Manning has a tear in the thick tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes and creates the arch of the foot.
It's uncertain how long - if at all - the nagging injury would sideline Manning. He was benched for the first time in his career Sunday after throwing four interceptions in Denver's 29-13 loss to Kansas City.
Coach Gary Kubiak regretted starting Manning, but said he plans to start him at Chicago on Sunday if he's healthy.
