Dolphins' Carey placed on injured reserve
Tackle Vernon Carey has been placed on injured reserve by the Miami Dolphins, who signed receiver Kevin Curtis.
Carey's streak of 87 consecutive starts ended Sunday because of a knee injury, and Tuesday's roster move means he'll miss the final three games as well. Lydon Murtha replaced Carey is expected to start this week against Buffalo.
Curtis shores up a hobbled receiving corps. Miami lost Brian Hartline last week with a season-ending injury to a finger on his left hand, and Brandon Marshall is slowed by a right hamstring injury.
Curtis played in only three games last year with Philadelphia because of a left knee injury and hasn't played this season while recovering from a bout with testicular cancer. The eighth-year veteran has 252 career receptions, 20 for touchdowns.
