Ahmad Brooks out against Giants after death of sister
By Jason Rowan
After San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula announced Wednesday that Ahmad Brooks was granted leave from the team for “family reasons,” reports indicate the linebacker will sit out Sunday’s game against the New York Giants following the recent death of his sister.
Brooks’ agent informed ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the linebacker’s 40-year-old sister Cassandra passed away due to complications related to Lupus,
Tomsula indicated Wednesday when making his comments about Brooks being away from the team that the linebacker is “in our prayers” but declined to comment further.
“I’m not going to – he needs to (tend to things) with his family right now,” he said.
Rookie Eli Harold is expected to replace Brooks in the lineup Sunday.
