Published Apr. 19, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

The 18th season of the NFL on FOX premieres Sunday, Sept. 11 with doubleheader coverage of seven games including an NFC East showdown between Eli Manning’s New York Giants and the Washington Redskins.

Week 1 action begins with a clash between last season’s NFC South champion Atlanta Falcons led by Pro Bowl quarterback Matt Ryan traveling to Soldier Field to face the reigning NFC North Champion Chicago Bears.

At present, FOX Sports is scheduled to broadcast 108 regular-season games, including nine editions of AMERICA’S GAME OF THE WEEK (NFL on FOX’s national doubleheader window) and the traditional Thanksgiving Day game this year featuring Aaron Rodgers and the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers against the Detroit Lions.

On Sunday, Oct. 23, FOX Sports heads to the United Kingdom for a special presentation as the Bears take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is the fifth time an NFL game has been played in London, and the second time FOX Sports has broadcast a game overseas. The 4:00 p.m. ET game anchoring the doubleheader coverage features the Packers traveling to Minnesota to face the Vikings in an NFC North rivalry game.

Viewers can look forward to many exciting matchups on the NFL on FOX schedule including the Sunday, Sept. 25 rematch of the NFC Championship game between the Packers and the Bears. Other key dates include two clashes in Foxboro beginning on Sunday, Oct. 16 with Tony Romo and the Cowboys taking on Tom Brady’s Patriots followed by a Week 9 matchup on Sunday, Nov. 6 between the Giants and New England. As the regular season reaches its final stretch, FOX Sports heads to New Meadowlands Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 4 as the Packers visit the Giants followed by a Week 16 marquee doubleheader on Saturday, Dec. 24 starting with a New York showdown between the Giants and Jets followed by Michael Vick leading the Philadelphia Eagles into Dallas in a game that could have a pivotal impact on the NFC playoff picture.

Each week, coverage begins with FOX NFL SUNDAY (12:00-1:00 PM ET/9:00-10:00 AM PT), America’s most-watched pregame show for 17-straight seasons. Terry Bradshaw and Curt Menefee return as co-hosts alongside analysts Howie Long, Jimmy Johnson and Michael Strahan, NFL insider Jay Glazer and comedian Frank Caliendo. Since its premiere in September 1994, FOX NFL SUNDAY has won 20 Emmy Awards for its production and personalities, including four for Outstanding Studio Show.

The 2010 NFL season was one for the record books for FOX Sports. The regular season averaged 20.1 million viewers, surpassing the previous NFL on FOX record of 19.1 million set in 2009 by a million viewers. In household ratings, the NFL on FOX 2010 season averaged an 11.8/24, its best rating in 15 years (12.5/29 in 1995). FOX Sports once again out-rated all other NFL rightsholders including the league’s prime-time over-the-air package. FOX Sports holds the distinction of being home to the No. 1 television program in the country (AMERICA’S GAME OF THE WEEK) and the NFL’s top pregame (FOX NFL SUNDAY) and postgame (THE OT) shows.

All NFL on FOX games are produced and broadcast in state-of-the-art HD beginning with three preseason broadcasts in August straight through coverage of the NFC’s postseason.

The 2011 NFL on FOX season includes 70 appearances of last season’s playoff teams, including 10 games featuring the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers. The NFC West Champion Seattle Seahawks and the NFC Wild Card New Orleans Saints each play 11 games on FOX, while the Bears and Giants play 10 and the Falcons, Eagles and Cowboys are each scheduled for nine games.
