Burnett (quadriceps) is officially questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Burnett is managing a quadriceps injury suffered during Monday's win over the Jets. The veteran safety will likely draw his usual start in Cleveland's secondary if he's able to suit up, and Jermaine Whitehead will slot into the starting lineup if Brunett is unable to go.
Burnett (quadriceps) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Burnett suffered this injury in Monday's game versus the Jets, so he's had a shortened amount of time to recover. The veteran safety has been a versatile member of the team so far with 12 tackles (six solo) and two sacks, but his status is in jeopardy for Sunday's game versus the Rams. This could become a major issue in the Browns' secondary since Damarious Randall (concussion) also missed Wednesday's practice, so Jermaine Whitehead and Eric Murray are preparing to start at safety if neither starters can return.
Burnett was removed from Monday's game with a quadriceps injury, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Burnett had a second straight productive game before leaving. He recorded six tackles and registered a sack for the second straight week.
Burnett made six tackles -- two for a loss -- and a sack in Sunday's blowout loss to the Titans.
Although the Browns' secondary was carved up for 248 yards and three touchdowns by Marcus Mariota, Burnett proved he's still a versatile safety with the ability to blitz the quarterback from the safety position. Burnett played all 61 defensive snaps in this outing alongside Damarious Randall, and he's expected to play the same role in Week 2's Monday night game versus the Jets.
