Impact Thomas played 74 percent of the Commanders' offensive snaps Sunday and led the team in receptions, but he was held under 20 receiving yards for a second consecutive week. The 31-year-old has had fairly consistent targets early in 2022, but he's secured 13 of 20 targets for just 106 yards and a touchdown over the first four weeks of the season.

Impact Thomas finished with season lows across the board despite playing 65 percent of the offensive snaps on an afternoon in which Carson Wentz topped 40 pass attempts for a third straight week. Thomas had 87 receiving yards and a TD over the first two games, but Week 3 illustrated the danger of starting a player who seems to be a secondary target in his team's passing game even if he's running a lot of routes. There is some chance of the tight end getting more looks as the year progresses and he's further removed from the ACL tear he suffered last season, but for now it appears as though wide receivers Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel and Jahan Dotson are all higher-priority options for Wentz ahead of a Week 4 trip to Dallas. Thomas is fifth on the team with an 11.0 percent target share, behind the three wideouts as well as passing-down back J.D. McKissic (15.0 percent).

He's back on the map as a fantasy option after an ACL tear last year, though his modest target share (12.9 percent) suggests there will also be some quiet games when Carson Wentz isn't so busy. Impact The 31-year-old tight end is now eligible to practice and figures to be eased in over the next few weeks. It's still unclear if he'll be ready for Week 1 against Jacksonville, coming back from December surgery to fix an ACL tear that reportedly was accompanied by meniscus and MCL damage. The Commanders are awfully banged up at tight end even behind Thomas, with converted college QB Armani Rogers getting most of the first-team snaps this preseason in the absence of Thomas, John Bates (calf) and Cole Turner (hamstring). It was Bates who filled in as the starter last year after Thomas and Ricky Seals-Jones (now with the Giants) suffered injuries.
