Two NFL prospects sought for questioning in nightclub beating
New York police are looking for former South Carolina players Victor Hampton and Kelcy Quarles for questioning in connection with a beating that took place at a Manhattan nightclub, according to the New York Daily News.
The Daily News cites police as saying Hampton and Quarles — both prospects hoping to get picked in May’s NFL Draft — were at Greenhouse on Friday night. At this point, it’s unclear who beat Haver, and the two players are just being sought as witnesses.
Quarles, however, told GoGamecocks.com that while he was in New York, he wasn’t at Greenhouse on Friday night and didn’t take part in a fight.
Another former South Carolina player, Chaz Sutton, was stabbed in the shoulder while leaving Greenhouse, 50 minutes after Haver was attacked, police told the Daily News. Authorities told the paper Sutton’s injury wasn’t serious and that they do not believe the attack on him was connected to the Haver beating.
