Poised to lead backfield Williams is in line for an elevated workload Sunday at Houston with Aaron Jones (calf) inactive, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.

Impact On the season, Williams has averaged 9.2 touches per game with Jones (18.6 per game) in the lineup, so the former's looks are poised to double if the Packers utilize him in the same way. And Williams has gone for 4.3 yards per carry and hauled in 13 of 14 targets. making him a great fill-in option in the short term. That said, he may have to contend with rookie second-round pick AJ Dillon and potentially practice squad callup Dexter Williams for reps in this Week 7 affair.

Impact Williams has worked in a change-of-pace role this year behind Jones, and he's rushed 33 times for 142 yards (4.3 YPC) and caught 13 of 14 targets for 119 yards. His average of 10.5 touches per game is bound to rise if Jones is indeed sidelined, although rookie second-round pick AJ Dillon likely will share the backfield with Williams. There's plenty of room for both to be productive, however, as the Texans have allowed 199 yards from scrimmage per game and eight total touchdowns to opposing running backs this season.

Impact Williams entered Week 6 averaging 10.5 touches per game and was coming off a Week 4 showing in which he recorded a season-high 16 touches, but he got just four chances to handle the football Sunday and did little outside of a 25-yard burst in the first quarter. He still split the snaps with Aaron Jones fairly evenly before Sunday's game was out of reach, and while fellow ballcarrier AJ Dillon ran well late and could become more of a factor in the Packers backfield, Williams will be the team's No. 2 back in a Week 7 matchup with a Texans team that has had trouble containing opposing running backs.

Impact Williams stepped up as a pass-catcher with top options Davante Adams (hamstring) and Allen Lazard (abdomen) both sidelined for the Packers. The tailback impressed with a couple long catches along the sideline, helping him post career highs in both receptions and receiving yards Monday. Williams also nearly scored from a goal-line carry early, but his production nonetheless was rather admirable and played a big part in continuing Green Bay's unbeaten start heading into its bye week.
