Will Smith was shot and killed during an apparent road rage incident in New Orleans on April 9. The former defensive end played college football at Ohio State and was drafted 18th overall by the New Orleans Saints in 2004. He spent his nine-year NFL career with the Saints, helping New Orleans win its first and only Super Bowl title in 2009. Smith retired after the 2012 season.

Smith played from 2000-2003 for the Ohio State Buckeyes, helping the university win the 2002 national title. He was named first-team All-American as a senior.

Smith was the model of consistency during his NFL career. He missed five games in his career and was a terror to opposing quarterbacks, finishing with 67.5 sacks.
Smith had a career-high 13 sacks in 2009, the same year the Saints won the Super Bowl.
