This may be the most obvious position to address. Trent Richardson is likely a goner after a tumultuous two years. Bradshaw and Boom Herron are both free agents. The Colts could be big players in free agency and go after Demarco Murray, or they may try to upgrade this position through the draft with a guy like Melvin Gordon.

After the Colts played the Pats this year, it was clear they needed help stopping the run. Cory Redding is a free agent whom the Colts may have to replace. They need a big body to fill those gaps up the middle. There are a plethora of run stoppers in the draft and some big names out there like Ndamukong Suh.

The Colts had problems running the ball this past season, but they also struggled to protect Andrew Luck. Joe Reitz and A.Q. Shipley are both free agents. Continuity on the offense line is so important, and the Colts may have to cough up the big bucks to keep their free agents and/or to sign a big-name player to this group.

The secondary is a strong component of the Colts defense, but the safety position was weak this past season. The Colts lacked that big-speed guy to roam around and make plays. To top it off, they may lose Sergio Brown and Mike Adams to free agency. This position will likely be addressed in the draft, as the free-agent market is pretty slim at safety.

The Colts addressed this issue a bit already by signing Duron Carter out of the CFL. T.Y. Hilton is the real deal, but they need a playmaker alongside him. There are some real nice receivers available in the draft, along with some big-name free agents such as Dez Bryant, Michael Crabtree, and Jeremy Maclin.
