Jones is progressing well in his rehab after hip surgery, Calvin Watkins of The Athletic reports.
Jones isn't expected to do much, if anything, during OTAs, but any optimism is a good sign. In his fourth year, Jones was outstanding with 67 tackles and 14 pass breakups through 16 games. Jones is still targeting a return for training camp.
Jones (hip) could start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, Clarence E. Hill, Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
There's optimism Jones may not need to miss much, if any, time during training camp, but it seems the defensive back is targeting a return closer to the regular-season opener. There doesn't seem to be much concern Jones will remain on the PUP list when Week 1 rolls around, though.
Jones had hip surgery Wednesday but still hopes to be ready for the start of training camp, ESPN.com's Todd Archer reports.
Jones played through a hip injury late in the 2018 season and was hoping it would resolve with rest. He presumably won't be available for the Cowboys' offseason program, but the rehab process isn't expected to impact his Week 1 availability. The 26-year-old cornerback could receive an extension this offseason, as he's scheduled to play out 2019 under the fifth-year option on his rookie contract. The Cowboys reportedly have talked with Jones' agent, but they're currently focused on working out deals for DE DeMarcus Lawrence, QB Dak Prescott and WR Amari Cooper.
