Cooper (quadriceps/ankle) admitted Thursday that he's uncertain if he'll be ready to play in Sunday's game against the Eagles, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Cooper is listed with two injuries on the Cowboys' official report, but it's the bruised quad he picked up in the Week 6 loss to the Jets that appears to be the greater concern. Though Cooper indicated he was feeling better Thursday, he was a non-participant in practice for the second straight day and was only able to do some running on the side. Cooper indicated he will try to practice Friday, and his activity level in that session should provide a better indication of his status for Week 7.
Coach Jason Garrett said that he doesn't anticipate Cooper (ankle/quadriceps) taking part in Thursday's practice, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Unless Cooper surprises and is able to take part in some light no-contact work, he'll go down as a non-participant in practice for the second straight day. The lack of activity to begin the week doesn't bode well for Cooper's chances of suiting up Sunday against the Eagles, but his involvement in Friday's practice (or lack thereof) will provide a clearer indication of which direction he's trending in.
Cooper didn't practice Wednesday due to ankle and quadriceps injuries, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
A bruised thigh was to blame for Cooper's exit from this past Sunday's loss to the Jets, but it appears the Cowboys are going with the health concerns that he dealt with last week on this week's injury reports. After that game, coach Jason Garrett said the team will take Cooper's situation "day by day," per Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News. Consequently, Cooper's status will be monitored closely as the week goes on to get a sense of his Week 7 availability.
Cooper (thigh) won't practice Wednesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Coach Jason Garrett already admitted some uncertainty about Cooper's availability for Sunday's game against the Eagles, but Garrett mentioned Wednesday that he still has hope for the wide receiver to practice later this week. Randall Cobb (back) will also miss Wednesday's session, leaving Tavon Austin and Cedrick Wilson to work with Michael Gallup in three-wide sets.
When asked Monday about Cooper's status for a Week 7 game against the Eagles, coach Jason Garrett replied, "(I) don't really know. He has the contusion on his thigh, which obviously bothered him yesterday. ... We'll take his situation day by day," Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Given that Garrett didn't really get into specifics, what Cooper is able to do once the Cowboys return to practice Wednesday will be telling. If he's limited or out this weekend, added snaps alongside Michael Gallup would be available for Tavon Austin and Cedrick Wilson.
