The Suns have emerged as contenders to sign LaMarcus Aldridge

The Phoenix Suns were once thought to be a serious long shot, if even that, to land LaMarcus Aldridge. Yet, after yesterday, that may no longer be the case, according to multiple reports.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports said Phoenix had legitimately "closed the gap," while ESPN's Marc Stein said Phoenix has moved into a "contending position" next to the San Antonio Spurs, who were considered the favorites to land Aldridge.

The Suns will have to pull of some serious salary cap gymnastics to sign Aldridge, but they're already in a better position to land him than anyone ever thought they'd be.
