Ray Allen’s birthday cake celebrates every stop in career
By Jason Rowan
Ray Allen celebrates his 40th birthday on Monday and as part of an apparent 24-hour stint in Las Vegas to celebrate reaching the big 4-0, the Hall of Famer was presented with a five-tiered birthday cake that celebrated each and every stop in his stellar basketball career.
From his superstar run at UConn to a journeyman NBA career that saw him enjoy successful runs with the Milwaukee Bucks, Seattle Supersonics, Boston Celtics and finally the Miami Heat, every tier served up a slice of memories for Allen.
“The last 24 hours has been truly incredible,” Allen writes on Instagram. “The turn up is real. I just got surprised left and right all day. It’s my birthday and we are gettin it in Vegas style. Thanks to my beautiful wife and all my great friends for settin it off. Oh and the cake!!”
Allen ended up in Vegas after competing in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe. As noted by SI.com, the sharpshooter also was named Man of the Year at The Players’ Awards at a gala also held in Sin City, an honor that capped a wonderful weekend and arguably served as icing on the cake, in a manner of speaking.
And who knows? After taking the 2014-15 NBA season off, maybe the cake at his 41st birthday party will feature one more tier.
