Another bad break for 76ers: Nerlens Noel needs knee surgery
Nerlens Noel needs surgery on his left knee and will be sidelined indefinitely, the Philadelphia 76ers announced Friday.
The 22-year-old big man missed his rookie season recovering from left knee surgery, however this procedure will be arthroscopic and Noel shouldn’t miss too much time.
However it’s another setback for the 76ers, who already lost No. 1 draft pick Ben Simmons to foot surgery. Coach Brett Brown had said Simmons might be back by January, however he backtracked on that statement Friday. The Sixers say Simmons recently had sutures removed and is continuing to rehab.
At least 7-footer Joel Embiid is healthy. After missing his first two seasons due to foot injuries, the 2014 No. 3 pick will make his debut in Wednesday’s season opener against the Thunder.
