Report: Paul George tells Pacers he plans to leave franchise in 2018, targets Lakers

All-Star forward Paul George has reportedly told the Pacers that he plans to become a free agent in the summer of 2018 and may look at signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

George has averaged 18.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in his seven seasons in the league. He is coming off a season in which he averaged 23.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. He missed out on making the All-NBA team, which would have netted him an additional $75 million from Indianapolis.

His name was involved in trade rumors during February’s trade deadline with ties to the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks.

The Lakers are his hometown team.
