Contrary to the expectations of just about everyone, the New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers tipped off the NBA’s MLK Day marathon with a tightly contested, fun, back-and-forth affair that wound up in overtime. But late in the game, all of those good vibes came crashing back to earth, and in a hurry, as the Knicks announced rookie Kristaps Porzingis would miss the remainder of the game with a sore right foot:

It’s probably nothing, thankfully, as neither Porzingis nor coach Derek Fisher seemed concerned after the game:

But with the way Porzingis has taken over the Big Apple, and with the NBA’s history books littered with talented big men who were derailed by foot injuries, we’re going to go ahead and panic a little bit anyway. If you want to join us in the panic, feel free to do so as well.

Or, if you’re somehow capable of remaining calm during such trying times, do that. Whatever you do, just hope that Porzingis will be back sooner than later.
