Lin gets own ice cream flavor
Ben & Jerry’s is the latest firm to try to cash in on "Linsanity," unveiling a new ice cream flavor that includes pieces of fortune cookies.
The Vermont-based company is selling the new flavor for a limited time at its Harvard Square shop, near the Ivy League university where Lin starred before becoming the first Asian-American to play in the NBA.
"The team is in HarvSq tonight making more Linsanity pints. Vanilla FroYo w/ Lychee honey & serves with waffle cookies," the company wrote on its Twitter account Thursday.
The "Lin-spired" campaign comes on the heels of the Knicks point guard going cold in a 102-88 loss at Miami, where he shot 1-for-11 with eight turnovers.
The company said on Twitter customers can shoot on a basketball hoop inside the store to win $1 off a pint of "Taste the Lin-Sanity."
The Lin craze is set to take a temporary hiatus, with the Knicks off until Wednesday for the All-Star break.
The 23-year-old, who has averaged 14.4 points and 5.8 assists with the Knicks, was a late addition to Friday night’s Rising Stars Challenge in Orlando, which pits NBA rookies against second-year players.
