Carmelo, wife to star in reality show
Carmelo Anthony has not even unpacked his bags in the Big Apple, but he and wife La La Vazquez already have their own reality show.
VH1 announced Wednesday that the newest Knicks superstar and his TV star wife will appear in the tentatively-titled "La La’s Full Court Life."
The series is slated to run for 10 episodes, starting in August, after kicking off filming last month. It will be a follow-up to "La La’s Full Court Wedding," which culminated with last summer’s lavish New York City nuptials.
“Viewers connect with La La because despite the fairy tale wedding and NBA star husband, she is a real, down to Earth, hardworking woman who stays true to herself,” said Jeff Olde executive VP of Original Programming and Production for VH1.
“The best thing about the new series is that while pursuing and realizing her dreams, La La gets to take us back to her home in New York, where her story began.”
Rumors of Anthony’s departure from Denver to his native New York began with last summer’s wedding, when star Hornets point guard Chris Paul made a now-famous toast to he and Anthony joining power forward Amar’e Stoudemire with the Knicks.
Many reporters speculated that Anthony’s desire to become a Knick was driven in part by Vazquez’s entertainment career and New York roots.
Anthony, 26, was traded to the Knicks Monday after months of rumors, and signed a three-year, $65 million contract extension. He will make his Madison Square Garden debut Wednesday night against Milwaukee.
Vazquez said in a tweet Wednesday: "I wanna thank the city of Denver 4having us for almost 8 wonderful seasons. I wish the team, city & fans the best. Thank u for being awesome."
