Stoudemire likely to play in Game 3

The New York Knicks believe Amare Stoudemire will be available for Game 3 of their playoff series, but sound less hopeful that Chauncey Billups can play.

Stoudemire took part in the Knicks’ morning shootaround Friday and was getting further treatment on his back after that. He missed the second half of Boston’s Game 2 victory because of back spasms.

Billups strained his left knee late in Game 1 and could miss his second straight game. The point guard received treatment Friday but did not practice.

The postseason Knicks game Friday is the first at Madison Square Garden in seven years.

The Celtics lead the series 2-0.
