Nate Robinson started for the Pelicans at point guard on opening night against the Warriors, but played just four minutes off the bench the next night against the Blazers.

The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has waived guard Nate Robinson.

Robinson, 5-9, 180, appeared in two games for New Orleans, averaging 2.0 assists and 0.5 steals. Originally signed by the Pelicans on Oct. 16, Robinson appeared in four preseason games, averaging 8.8 points and 2.5 assists.

New Orleans’ roster now stands at 14.

A day later, he’s been removed from the roster.

With Jrue Holiday on a minutes restriction, and with Tyreke Evans and Norris Cole sidelined due to injury, that means a whole lot of Ish Smith running the point for the foreseeable future.

Injuries have derailed the Pelicans the past couple of seasons. The current campaign is getting off to a similarly ominous start.
