New Orleans Pelicans players pay visit to Baton Rouge flood victims

It’s been more than a week since the citizens of Baton Rouge were hit with a storm so severe it caused flooding that was nothing short of tragic. Homes were destroyed, lives were lost, families were displaced and the community is still feeling the effects of this catastrophe.

With New Orleans located only 80 miles from Baton Rouge, Pelicans players and franchise executives made the journey across the I-10 on Wednesday afternoon — doing their part to help the people who have lost so much:

Even when they weren’t assisting the Red Cross feeding families, they took time to take pictures and shoot around with the residents at The River Center Shelter

Their trip isn’t going to single-handedly rebuild the thousands of homes damaged by the flood water, but, if they can provide just a glimmer of happiness during what has been a tumultuous month for the citizens of Baton Rouge — then that has to count for something.
