Not again: LeBron reportedly waiting to see what Cavs do before re-signing
It was all homecoming and happiness when LeBron James announced he was coming back to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Flash forward nearly a year later, and it’s what have you done for me lately.
James reportedly is taking a wait-and-see approach before re-signing with the Cavaliers, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Cavs will have to decide what they want to do contractually with power forwards Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson, shooting guards J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert and center Brendan Haywood.
James reportedly won’t recruit Love to return to the Cavaliers despite the team sending last year’s No. 1 pick — Andrew Wiggins — along with former top pick Anthony Bennett in a three-team trade to land Love. James has the same agent as Thompson and most likely wants him to return.
But it seems unfathomable for James to leave Cleveland again. His image took a major hit when he left the Cavs the first time for the Miami Heat. He earned back many fans when he chose to return to Cleveland, but might alienate even more if he left for a second time.
