Report: NBA fines Kobe, Pierce, Rondo
Lakers guard Kobe Bryant and the Celtics’ Rajon Rondo and Paul Pierce have all been fined by the NBA for missing charity appearances during the All-Star weekend in Orlando, Fla.
Bryant was hit with a $40,000 fine for not attending an NBA Cares event, while Rondo and Pierce were both slapped with $20,000 fines for their no-shows, USA Today reported.
All three played in the All-Star Game on Feb. 26, with Bryant scoring 27 points as the West beat the East 152-149. He passed Michael Jordan for most points in All-Star Game history in the process, moving to 271 for his career.
Bryant also suffered a broken nose and concussion from a hard foul by Dwyane Wade in the contest, and has been taking to the court in a protective mask since.
