Hawks unsure how much time Horford will miss

Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer says the team isn’t sure how much

time Al Horford will miss after tearing his right pectoral

muscle.

Horford, who missed most of 2011-12 with a torn left pectoral

muscle, was injured in the first overtime Friday night in a victory

at Cleveland and likely will need surgery soon.

Budenholzer started 15th-year veteran Elton Brand at center

Saturday night against Charlotte. Pero Antic and Gustavo Ayon also

will get plenty of playing time.

When Horford was hurt two seasons ago, he was sidelined 55 games

after undergoing surgery. He returned for the last three playoff

games of Atlanta’s first-round loss to Boston.

Horford leads the Hawks in scoring and rebounding, averaging

18.2 points and 8.4 rebounds.
