Listen: Gregg Popovich rips Donald Trump’s election victory

Gregg Popovich spoke to the media ahead of Friday night's game against the Detroit Pistons and ripped into the election of Donald Trump as the next president of the United States, according to

Trump defeated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a stunning election result that has sparked conversation about how the country will move forward.

Popovich said that he was still trying to formulate his thoughts and was “sick to his stomach.”

“We live in a country that ignored all those values that we hold our kids accountable for,” Popovich said. “They'd be grounded for years if they acted and said all the things that have been said in that campaign by Donald Trump. I look at Evangelicals and I wonder those values don't mean anything to them. All those values to me are more important than anybody's skill in business or anything else because it tells who we are, how we want to live and what kind of people we are.”

The Spurs head coach criticized how Trump mocked a reporter with a disability and compared it to a seventh-grade bully's behavior.

Popovich concluded his speech with “We are Rome.”
