Ex-BYU star Fredette working to improve defense

Former BYU star Jimmer Fredette says people have been telling

him his whole life he’s not a good defensive player but he thinks

he’s on his way to proving them wrong as he works out for a series

of NBA teams.

The 6-foot-2 point guard who averaged 28.9 points per game last

season had his first workout on Tuesday with the Indiana Pacers. He

plans another with the New York Knicks on Thursday and future stops

at Sacramento, Utah and Phoenix.

Fredette told reporters on Wednesday all five teams have

expressed interest in drafting him later this month. He says they

all seem to know that he can play offense at the NBA level but have

concerns about his ability to defend NBA point guards.
