With Miami Heat star Chris Bosh sidelined with a serious medical condition, the long-term health of NBA players is back in focus. It’s important to note that we don’t know what caused the blood clots on Bosh’s lung. It is true, however, that regular travel on long-distance flights is a potential cause for blood clots — to the extent that the CDC has a page dedicated to the medical condition and the risk factors involved.

NBA players, naturally, see their fair share of such travel. And Dwyane Wade says that Bosh’s scare should sound the alarms in the league office.
