Durant says he used to put too much pressure on self in DC
WASHINGTON (AP) Kevin Durant says he used to get too worked up about playing back home in the nation’s capital.
That’s no longer an issue, he says.
Durant, who grew up in the D.C. area, spoke to reporters Tuesday before his Golden State Warriors’ only regular-season game against the Washington Wizards. It’s his first game in Washington since signing with the Warriors; the Wizards – and their fans – had hoped to try to sign him as a free agent.
Asked what he anticipated the reaction from spectators to be Tuesday, Durant said: ”I don’t know. I don’t expect it to be anything.”
He said that during his first few years in the league, he put too much pressure on himself when playing at Washington ”because I wanted to play well at home.”
Now, though, Durant tries to ”approach it like a normal game.”
