Warriors’ Ezeli mixes up Peyton and Eli Manning in congratulatory Super Bowl 50 tweet

C'mon, Festus. It was Peyton, not Eli, Manning who won Super Bowl 50.

Following the Denver Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 — possibly Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning’s final game — Golden State Warriors backup center Festus Ezeli sent out a congratulatory tweet to the winning quarterback.

But he mixed up Peyton with his younger brother, Eli Manning, the New York Giants’ quarterback:

Ezeli quickly deleted the tweet and apologized, but the damage had already been done. His tweet had already been screen-grabbed to forever live on the Internet:

In Ezeli’s defense, he was about to undergo knee surgery on Monday, so it’s understandable why his mind would be elsewhere and he might mistake the Manning brothers, who are now each two-time Super Bowl winners.

Poor Festus. At least he was a good sport about it.
