Another OT home thriller gives Mavs franchise mark never seen before

The Dallas Mavericks celebrate an overtime win against the Boston Celtics on Monday.

The Dallas Mavericks played a third consecutive overtime game at home Monday. In the franchise’s 36 seasons, this is the first time that’s happened.

The Mavs beat Sacramento in double overtime on Jan. 5, lost to Cleveland in overtime on Jan. 13 and they held off the Boston Celtics on Monday after leading by 17 points. Dallas is tied with Chicago and Houston for the most overtime games this season with five, and tied with the Rockets for most overtime wins this season with four.

It was the first time any NBA had three consecutive home games go to overtime since the San Antonio Spurs in December 2014.
