Maybe new Knicks president Phil Jackson is trying to pull a Jimmy Kimmel and punk all of us. But then again, maybe not.

ESPN’s Marc Stein, citing sources, reported Friday that the New York Knicks have expressed interest in signing Lamar Odom for the rest of the season.

Odom, who will be 35 next season, last played in the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers before heading to Spain this season to play basketball after he wasn’t picked up by a team. Odom recently returned to the United States to rehab an injury.

While Odom has a history with Jackson from their time together with the Los Angeles Lakers, it’s not clear what kind of value the veteran still can bring to the table — especially after Odom’s much-publicized troubles (DUI arrest, drug rumors and allegations) that may have led to his divorce from reality star Khloe Kardashian in December.
