Cavaliers set an NBA record for threes not even the Warriors can touch
When you think of the most prolific three-point shooting team in the NBA, you think of the Golden State Warriors, and with good reason. Stephen Curry set the single-game record for most three-pointers made earlier this season, and Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant are two more of the deadliest shooters around.
But in terms of consistency from beyond the arc, the Cleveland Cavaliers set a record on Sunday that not even the Warriors can touch.
The Cavaliers are second in the league behind only the Houston Rockets in three-pointers made per game with 13.1, and are also second in the league in attempts with 35.4. That would seem excessive, if not for the fact that Cleveland is fifth in the league in shooting percentage from beyond the arc, knocking down 37.1 percent as a team from three-point distance.
The Warriors, meanwhile, rank fifth in attempts (30.7), fifth in makes (11.1), and ninth in shooting percentage (36.2).
It's worth noting that Cleveland's strategy is working (almost) to perfection: The Cavaliers improved to 8-1 on the young season with Sunday's win over the Hornets.
