Buzz City Beat: Four Wings the Charlotte Hornets Should Trade For, MJ Rips Warriors
Welcome to Buzz City Beat, Swarm and Sting’s daily dose of the latest news and opinion articles about the Charlotte Hornets.
The Charlotte Hornets were finally able to end their seven-game losing streak as they defeated the Brooklyn Nets. In this edition of Buzz City Beat, we look at four scoring wings the team should trade for, Michael Jordan ripping the Golden State Warriors‘ win record and Cody Zeller is close to returning.
“The Hornets’ playoff chances are officially in jeopardy after this most recent slide. They made a move for Miles Plumlee last week, possibly a sign of things to come. Who else could be on Charlotte’s radar to shore up their squad?” (HoopsHabit.com)
Max Seng names Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Wesley Matthews, and Sean Kilpatrick as scoring wings that the Hornets should target before the trade deadline. It isn’t a bad idea for the team to add another scorer, especially a shooter/scorer which would be an offensive upgrade over Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. All of those players could help Charlotte immediately but it is still unclear if they are looking to acquire one of these types of players.

“Joe Lacob, who owns the Warriors, appeared on a San Francisco Bay Area radio station Tuesday and said Jordan told him during some down time during a meeting of NBA owners in New York that because Golden State didn’t win the title in 2016 that “73 don’t mean —-.” (CharlotteObserver.com)
The Charlotte Hornets’ owner had some choice words for the record-setting Warriors. It is surprising to hear this but it’s exactly what I would expect from the GOAT. Michael Jordan knows that this league is about rings. Also, he may have been a bit salty that Golden State broke his Chicago Bulls‘ 72-game win mark. Still, he has a point.
“Charlotte Hornets forward/center Cody Zeller (quad) is close to being ready to play again, head coach Steve Clifford hinted on Tuesday.” (NumberFire.com)
Hopefully, close actually means close because Cody has been out for more than two weeks with a quad contusion. The bruise on his leg was reportedly pretty bad. The Charlotte Hornets are only 2-12 without Zeller this season so getting him back soon is essential to their playoff push in the second half of the season.
