Buzz City Stings is your daily destination for the latest and best news from around the internet about the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets lost their fourth straight game as Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks were able to win in an overtime thriller. In this edition, Charlotte looks for revenge against the Knickerbockers and the Greensboro Swarm grab their first ever win.
“Carmelo Anthony nailed the game winner in overtime after Kristaps Porzingis buried a crucial three pointer as the New York Knicks held on for a thrilling 113-111 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. The Hornets led by as many as 13 points in the third quarter before Anthony led a 22-4 run to send the Knicks into the fourth quarter with a five-point lead.” (SportingNews.com)
While Charlotte usually dominates the third quarter, the Knicks turned the tables and went on a 22-4 run in the period to helped them comeback and eventually win the game in extra time. The third period was the turning point in the game and gave New York the momentum. Carmelo Anthony’s big night included a double-double consisting of 35 points and 14 rebounds. After a strong start to the season, the Hornets have hit a rough patch and are in desperate need of a win before their losing streak continues.

“The Charlotte Hornets won’t have too much time to dwell on giving up a 13-point lead to the New York Knicks, only to lose 113-111 in overtime on Friday in New York. The two teams will go at it again on Saturday in Charlotte.” (ca.sports.yahoo.com)
It’s not very often that teams get a chance to avenge a loss so quickly but the scheduling of a back-to-back/home-and-home series between the Hornets and Knicks allow for Charlotte to take on the team they just lost to a few hours ago. Both teams will have tired players but Buzz City should give the Hornets an advantage as they will have the home crowd behind them. This is not only a potential revenge game but Charlotte also need to snap their current four-game skid.
“Forward Aaron Harrison, on assignment from the Charlotte Hornets, led the Swarm with a 31-point performance while also notching five rebounds. Starters Xavier Munford (26 points, seven rebounds) and Damien Wilkins (14 points, six assists) also had double-figure scoring nights, while Perry Ellis chipped in 12 points off the bench for his first double-figure scoring performance of the season.” (dleague.nba.com)
