Brooklyn Nets Week 17 Outlook: Losing Streak Hits Double-Digits

This has to be the stake in the coffin now. After dropping all three games this week, the Brooklyn Nets now have dropped their last 12 games and have proven to everyone that they might never find their tenth win.

With the potential the Brooklyn Nets have, you’d expect them to have at the very least ten wins, but this season hasn’t been kind to them whatsoever. All of this team’s failures are in the past right now, so all we could do is look forward and hope for the best.

Often times, the Brooklyn Nets‘ lose in heart breaking fashion, giving away what seem to be winnable games. Whether the Nets have the least talent in the league or not is debatable, but the fact is Brooklyn struggles to win games, as evidenced by their win total of just nine games. This is a hard reality for fans to deal with.

More from Nothin' But Nets

The Nets didn’t even play terribly this past week. They stuck in every game and even managed to bring a tough Washington Wizards team to overtime before disappointingly falling at the end of the game.

The Nets will take part in two games this week before the All Star break, and they should be able to come away with a win it at least one of these contests. Not having ten wins by the All Star game would be an embarrassment, although this entire season has been embarrassing, regardless. We can only hope that they will sneak a win this coming week.

Last week, I predicted the Nets would beat the Miami Heat last week and find their tenth win, but unfortunately they fell short well again. In fact, it wasn’t just a prediction, it was a guarantee.

Well, now there are no more guarantees. It’s tough to guess, at this point, when the Nets will get their 10th win, which is kind of depressing to say, being a lifetime Nets fan. We’ll just have to wait and see if they finally manage to turn things around.

    Memphis Grizzlies @ Brooklyn Nets

This is one of those games that seem too out of reach for the Nets no matter where they’re playing. Honestly, any team with a winning record seem to be too far out of reach for this Nets team right now. The Memphis Grizzlies are a very solid team though and will likely find their way into the postseason.

Prediction: Nets take a loss in Brooklyn.

    Milwaukee Bucks @ Brooklyn Nets

This can very well be the Nets’ tenth win. The Milwaukee Bucks are a tough team, but they haven’t been so fortunate the last few weeks, which could give the Nets a marginal advantage. But the Nets will need to step up on their home court — a place they have not won in 2017 — if they will steal a win against Milwaukee.

Prediction: Nets sneak a win by the Bucks.

    Players To Watch For

I will continue to put faith in the same players on this team until the end of the season. They are the key playmakers on this team and they are the players that make or break every game for the Nets. No matter what kind of numbers anyone else puts up, the Nets need these players to come through.

Player To Watch For: Brook Lopez

With a possible trade in the near future and with the numbers he’s been putting up for the team, Brook Lopez is by far the player to watch for on this team. He’s been absolutely shredding it this past week, so it’ll be interesting to see how the team handles his situation going forward. It would be ideal to keep Lopez on the team, seeing as he is Brooklyn’s best player, but with the team’s current situation, it’s also understandable if he has to be traded.

Players Who Need To Step Up: Bojan Bogdanovic and Sean Kilpatrick

Of the two players, Bojan Bogdanovic has actually been putting up decent numbers, but there is still room for improvement. Sean Kilpatrick has practically disappeared though, so he really needs to step up for the team if they want any chance at winning another game soon. Kilpatrick, at this point, is a bench piece for the Nets. His role has diminished, but he still has the ability to impact games in a big way if he can get on a roll.

Unless the Nets are carried by Brook Lopez, or he has support from multiple other pieces, the Nets will find it tough to win consistently. For now, the main focus should be just getting the 10th win, and, in the process, the first home win of 2017.
